Research on Terrain Sensing Method and Model Prediction for Height Adjustment of Sugarcane Harvester Base Cutter

The sugarcane plantations in China occupy large areas of undulated terrain. During the operation a harvester, operator’s vision is severely obstructed, and height cutter needs to be adjusted frequently, resulting low harvesting efficiency difficulty ensuring quality. However, current diversified non-contact methods are unable distinguish or penetrate interference well provide feedback regarding change terrain height. Based on proposed contact sensing method, device designed for application orthogonal test carried out with standard table L9(34) study influence working parameters performance. Through analysis principle device, three factors (moving speed, rotational torque, preload) tested levels, index systems Fréchet distance residual deviation proposed. range variance used statistically analyze results determine primary secondary orders parameters. Then, regression model was obtained by influencing factors. After analysis, influences moving speed rotating torque were found most significant, preload smallest. show that average relative errors between experimental values predicted 3.46% 2.48%. According practical applications harvester data two indexes, optimal value ranges (km/h) (Nm) determined as (1.57, 1.75) (0.73, 0.86), respectively, which certain reference subsequent harvesters.
